About The-Gryphon.com


The-Gryphon.com has always been an excersice in webdesign, I started with a "Hello World" page on some township school server, using just basic html formating. Over the years I have played with Html, Java, CSS and even a little PHP. Other then honing my webdesign skills, The-Gryphon.com has been a means of sharing pictures with family for over a decade. While I would love to find a commercial purpose for the site that generates money, I find enjoyment in tinkering with the various code to get it to do new things which I had not previously been able to achieve. I would liken The-Gryphon.com to being like a hot rod that is not completly finished. While the paint job looks good at a distance, it may not be perfect on close inspection. A lot of hard work has gone into this site over the years. Many agonizing nights bashing out code to try and get the desired results, yet The-Gryphon.com has been a rewarding experience much like putting together a car.



What is a Gryphon?
Other common spellings for Gryphon include Griffon, and Griffin. A Griffin as defined by Merriam-Webster.com defines a Griffin as "a mythical animal typically having the head, forepart, and wings of an eagle and the body, hind legs, and tail of a lion." I will not go into detail about the mythology of Gryphons, but Gryphon's have often represented intelligence, wisdom, courage, strength, boldness, even heaven and earth. Why The-Gryphon.com?
I liked both what the Gryphon represents as well as liked it as the subject matter for the site logo. Not to mention that finding a relatively short domain name that might be memorable and relatively short wasn't easy.
